Club NewsThat stands for Top Down Driving Weather! I don't know about the rest of our members, but I'm ready for some top down driving weather. It's not that winter has been long, it always seems to last about . . . well, about as long as it lasts. And it's not that it has been severe - in fact, it has been nothing like 2006, when February brought more snow to the area than anyone wanted to see, except of course for the kids who got to stay home, make snow angels, ride their sleds, and generally track dirty wet shoes and boots through the garage and into the house.

About the LVMOC

Club News

The LVMOC, based out of the Allentown-Bethlehem area, was created in the spring of 2002 after several local Miata drivers got tired of passing one another on the road, waving, and having no idea who the other person was. There were several surrounding clubs, such as PACE in central PA, the Miata Club of Wilkes Barre, the Delaware Valley Miata Club, and the Miata Mobsters out of New Jersey; the problem with these clubs is that their events, while all being great events, were simply too far away to make them practical for most of us. Through various Internet resources involving Miatas, such as and RoadsterChat, we were able to find a bevy of other local members who shared in the desire to meet up, show off their cars, swap tech tips, and go on fun drives.

The logical progression after getting a rag-tag group together for that purpose was the formation of a club so that we could make it easier to keep in touch, have events, and most importantly to find other like-minded individuals who share in our enthusiasm to join us.

Although we are based out of the Allentown-Bethlehem region, we have a member base that spans much further with members from the Pocono's to Philadelphia to the Jersey shore. Our events are centralized locally, but our long range events can be anywhere in the tri-state area and beyond if we get enough interest. Our first event was a delightful romp through the Pocono's, tackling twisties, seeing spectacular views, getting great food, and meeting terrific people. We had 22 cars in that first event - not bad!
