Planned Pocono Itinerary:

This is a rain or shine event, but in case of extreme bad weather, a decision will be made late the night before and posted at the web site. You can also call Lou at 610.751.9574 if your internet access is not working.

The run will consist of the usual stops, and will include the new rest area at the gap. There may be some new roads leading up to the first stop.

8:30-9:30: Registration at Young’s. (You will receive a snack / goody bag when you register.) Coffee and donuts will be provided by Young’s as we sign in and form groups.

9:45: Mandatory Drivers meeting for all participants

We will cover the plan for the day, announcing the leaders and tails for each group and assigning the CB channel to be used for communications. If you do not have a CB, you might consider purchasing one. Small inexpensive units may be purchased at Radio Shack, and larger more powerful units are available at any local CB shop or on-line. Antennas’ are available with magnet mounts, placing a small piece of shelf liner under them will reduce the chance of scratching that shiny deck.

9:45 -10:00 - 10:15 Departure times for the three groups. If a fourth group is needed, it will be announced that day.

First Stop: New rest area at the Gap off 611 - Approximately 1 hour after departure.

Second Check Point: Callie's Candy Kitchen in Mountain home. We can spend about 20 to 25 minutes here, depending on how busy it is and how traffic was up to that point. Bring wet wipes if you plan on purchasing chocolate, as you will get it on the interior of your car and your hands

Third Stop, Top of Big Pocono: This will be a short stop for a quick group shot at the top of the mountain. It's a very nice view, so bring a camera!

Last stop – 3:15 / 3:45 We reserved the back room of Bennigan's for a post run get together and meal. We will hold a raffle for door prizes, and of course, take more photos. There will probably be some car ogling in the parking lot as the first and second groups wait for the third group to arrive or maybe just a short stint at the cash-bar for some folks.

This year the meal is FREE to PAID LVMOC club members and $10.00 for each non-member or guests The $10.00 includes the meal, tax, gratuity, and soft drinks - alcohol is available at the cash bar in the front. You must pay at the time of registration at Young’s, please bring cash – small bills preferred so we can make change. We will maintain a running head count of those planning on attending the meal as there is an 80 person limit.

Remember that seating is limited, so if you can’t make it, let us know ahead of time and we can add another person to the list that morning.

With 79 people attending, we need to know who plans on attending the awards dinner afterwards. Please post here if you will be attending the dinner at Bennigans, and indicate your meal choice.

Here is the MENU

Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad
Buffalo Chicken Salad
American Burger
Peppercorn Blue Cheeseburger Pita
Monte Cristo Sandwich
Reuben Sandwich
Chicken Tenders

Last year several groups coming from different directions choose to meet in various places to caravan to the starting point. Riding to any event in a group, even a small group, is more fun than solo.

In summary, may we suggest the following?

While we will provide bottled water and a small snack at the start, and Young's will have coffee and donuts available, you may want to bring something more, especially if you do not plan on the meal afterwards.

Everyone should plan on a rest stop before leaving Young’s as we will be on the road for about an hour before the first stop. Those first two cups of coffee will come calling sometime after the first few bumps in the road pass.

You should plan on arriving with a full tank of gas and a car that is in good running condition.

Suntan Lotion or a large hat with a tie down strap might be needed if you are sensitive to the sun, depending of course on the weather.

In summary – an empty bladder and a full tank of gas, a big smile and a Miata.

See you there!

I'll be there!

I am pretty sure Howard is going on this run as well.

I'll check with him, and get back to you.

Can't wait!

I'll be there. Let me know if you need a tail for any of the groups.

Count me in.

Route that I place to take. Starting from Cherry Hill area NJ along Route 70/73. Take Route 70 West, go over Ben Franklin, go I-676, then I-76, followed by I-476. Meet somewhere in Plymouth Meeting at 7:30am for a caravan drive to Young's.

Renie,
Could you please suggest a meeting place somewhere in Plymouth Meeting for a caravan ride to Pocono run? I am thinking like a gas station or Wawa with gas, so we can load up on gas before driving over and have a restroom to use too.
