Planned Pocono Itinerary:

This is a rain or shine event, but in case of extreme bad weather, a decision will be made late the night before and posted at the web site. You can also call me at 610.751.9574 if your internet access is not working.

The run will consist of the usual stops, with the possible exception of the new rest area at the gap; however, because we are starting at Young’s, there will be some new roads

8:30-9:30: Registration at Young’s. (You will receive a snack / goody bag when you register.) Coffee and donuts will be provided by Young’s as we sign in and form groups.

9:45: Mandatory Drivers meeting for all participants

We will cover the plan for the day, announcing the leaders and tails for each group and assigning the CB channel to be used for communications. If you do not have a CB, you might consider purchasing one. Small inexpensive units may be purchased at Radio Shack, and larger more powerful units are available at any local CB shop or on-line. Antennas’ are available with magnet mounts, placing a small piece of shelf liner under them will reduce the chance of scratching that shiny deck.

9:45 -10:00 - 10:15 Departure times for the three groups. If a fourth group is needed, it will be announced that day.

First Stop: TBA (New rest area or the Bus terminal at the Gap off 611) Approximately 1 hour after departure.

Second Check Point: Callie's Candy Kitchen in Mountain home. We can spend about 12 to 25 minutes here, depending on how busy it is and how traffic was up to that point. Bring wet wipes if you plan on purchasing chocolate, as you will get it on the interior of your car.

Third Stop, Top of Big Pocono: This will be a short stop for a quick group shot at the top of the mountain. It's a very nice view, so bring a camera!

Last stop – 3:15 / 3:45 We reserved the back room of Bennigan's for a post run get together and meal. We will hold a raffle for door prizes, and of course, take more photos. There will probably be some car ogling in the parking lot as the first and second groups wait for the third group to arrive or maybe just a short stint at the cash-bar for some folks.

This year the meal is FREE to PAID LVMOC club members with a $10.00 Member Donation for Guests The $10.00 includes the meal, tax, gratuity, dessert and soft drinks - alcohol is available at the cash bar in the front. You must pay at the time of registration at Young’s, please bring cash – small bills preferred so we can make change. We will maintain a running head count of those planning on attending the meal as there is an 80 person limit.

Remember that seating is limited, so if you can’t make it, let us know ahead of time and we can add another person to the list that morning.

Last year several groups coming from different directions choose to meet in various places to caravan to the starting point. Riding to any event in a group, even a small group, is more fun than solo.

In summary, may we suggest the following?

While we will provide bottled water and a small snack, you may want to bring something more, especially if you do not plan on the meal afterwards.

Everyone should plan on a rest stop before leaving Young’s as we will be on the road for at least an hour before the first stop. Those first two cups of coffee will come calling sometime after the first few bumps in the road pass.

You should plan on arriving with a full tank of gas and a car that is in good running condition.

Suntan Lotion or a large hat with a tie down strap might be needed if you are sensitive to the sun, depending of course on the weather.

In summary – an empty bladder and a full tank of gas.

Seems I read somewhere at a Solstice forum link that I got at RC that it was the politically correct thing to do

Of course, you can always ride as navigator in a MIATA

I'll be there.

Might even be able to offer a Miata-less lady a navigator position.

Oh, I forgot to add one thing to NJ Turnpike Exit 4/Philly area members. How about a caravan drive to the Pocono drive? We can meet somewhere around Exit 4 area along route 73 in one of the restaurents there (Benegan's, Denny's, Sage, On the Borders, Burger King/Lexus dealership area). Let's meet 2 hours prior to the start of the event. BTW, what time does the event start?
