I will not be able to attend after all - the husband made reservations for us to go out of town that weekend.
Have fun!

Oooof for us from Philly, having to be a the start at 7..means I have to leave at 5:30. Too long of a day for me. The gas being (possibly) $4.00/gal is 25% of my decision too.

Phil -- sorry to hear. But, if you change your mind, I know the trip from Ottos to Bloom area can be done in under 3 hrs.

Ok - update.
I updated the first post with some details.
First, we will leave the lot at the Columbia Mall at 10:30 sharp. Really need to head out at this time to avoid the "church going" traffic on the back roads.
Next, there is a concession stand at World's End that will be open. However, their pace is rather slow. So, I still recommend packing a lunch. But, they do have ice cream. We will be there for 45 minutes for lunch.
Weather looks good at fantastic at this point.
I am looking for someone to do tail duty. PM me if you are willing.
So, if you are on the fence, just join us. The trip is worth it. I've done the ride 5 times and it just keeps getting better.
Hope to see you all there.

Dang it Mark. Every time I check the site for new posts, I see something about this ride. You really need to get me a copy of the route so Sharon and I can run it. Now that the weather is getting a little cooler, it should make for a great weekend trip.

I found some interesting info on the web about the park that shows how it got its name and how little things cost back then.
In 1929, the former Department of Forests and Waters began purchasing the devastated land to create a state forest park. In 1932, $50 was allotted to create the park facilities, which purchased little more than four picnic tables.
The name of the park has "swirled" with controversy. A map from 1872 called the area Worlds End. However, there was a dispute as to the proper name of the area. Some people called it Worlds End, others Whirl’s Glen, and still others Whirls End. The first name arose from the topography of the place. Seven mountain ranges converge on the point and one does receive the sensation of being at the ultimate ends of the earth. The proponents of the second name base their claim upon the whirlpool in the Loyalsock Creek and the third name was probably a contraction of the other two. Since the whirlpool had largely disappeared, it was decided that the name Worlds End would be the most appropriate. Hence, the name Worlds End State Forest Park.
In 1936, a letter campaign caused the park name to be changed to Whirls End. Another letter campaign forced the matter to be brought to the former State Geographic Board, who supervised the official naming of places. The name was changed back to Worlds End in 1943.
Well, we hope you all enjoy the seven converging mountain ranges and the surrounding roads, which I am sure, must have more than a few curves.
And don't forget to stand upwind from the Hikers as they tend to get a bit ripe after a few days, if you get my drift. We once had the pleasure of stopping at a small store in the mountains at the Gap when five hikers showed up to crash on the porch. Nicest people you ever want to meet, but I barely finished my coffee
~That was not a photo of them, just a web available picture that was poorly named
